Living Life with Lessons to Learn on the Way

Author's Note: I wrote this story about life experiences through a
                                                       good book.

When everything in your live is always changing you don’t know what to do. New friends and new enemies to deal with and your life completely shifting. Your family splitting apart and losing your friends. Making the team or dropping the bomb. Either way challenges always come in our life time.
Friends and enemies are common in a persons life and they need to be dealt with, in good ways. The main character has to deal with friends and enemies just like me. Whether I am dealing with my friends or people are trying to bully me. Nick (the main character) has to deal with his neighbor Trent. Trent’s house is across the street from Nick’s, in the beginning he cannot stand Trent. Just like I couldn’t stand some of my friends now. But when they started hanging out and connecting to one another then they finally became friends. Which has happened to me with some of my friends and I have seen it happen with them and their friends.
There are a lot of things in common with me and the main character Nick. For one we both love basketball. I love basketball way more than he does though. Basketball, is a passionate sport for me and him. I have played since I was 6 years old. It doesn’t tell us how old when Nick started playing but I don’t know if it was younger than 6 years old. I practice almost everyday after school whether it is with my select team or just in my driveway by myself. Nick is in high school and is on the varsity team. Which basically means he has basketball practice every single day, which I wish I had even though it would be tiring. That is one big connection me and the main character have together.
If I could have changed anything in the book I would’ve kept the father in the story. In the beginning of the story and then he was gone at the end of the second chapter. Nick’s parents were getting divorced and I wish they hadn’t. I wanted the dad to stay in the book more often than he was because he could have really helped Nick during the basketball season even though he kept pressuring Nick and making him work really hard at playing basketball. He loved Nick and helped him with everything. With all of that I would have really liked it if he was in the story more than he was.
After I read Night Hoops  I really loved this book. It talked about my favorite sport, basketball and it taught me a lot of lessons. It taught me that I shouldn’t take anything for granted in life like sports and family because those are things that are most important to you. I wouldn’t want to not be allowed to play sports or be separated from my family. Those are the lessons I learned. I really enjoyed this book and will read more from this author soon.
